Renovating a Small Bathroom? Blunders to Avoid

Renovating a small bathroom is a challenge to many with one constant question hovering all the time. Are the details too much or too less for the space?

You can be as creative as you want to make your bathroom interior design stunning; here are key blunders to avoid at any cost.

Avoid Textures – If the small bathroom is poised to witness heavy traffic, avoid using items that come with detailing, especially in the case of tiles. Any such items become a haven for moulds, soap buds, mildew, hair and germs.

Too Much Use of Colors – Application of dark colors to any space makes it look compact. Thus, strictly avoid such colors. Instead, go for bright light shades like cream, beige, dull pink or blue etc.

Poor Quality Tiles – Many homes though spend a bomb on getting trendy sanitary ware, compromise on the tiles. This is a bad idea, as tiles not only add to the look but also makes the bathroom a lot more functional and safe. It is a good idea to go for branded small sized (more grout) anti skid tiles for the floor.

Contemporary Bathroom

Single Handed Fixtures rather than Separate – Space saving gear shifting water faucets are better choices for small bathrooms than separate options for hot and cold water. By doing so, you are also saving yourself from the trouble of drilling two separate holes.

No Outside View – No one likes to spend his time in a small, dark place, where there is nothing to view around. Add a window if possible. If not, try using a few mirrors or operable skylight to create a naturally well-lit space.

It is all about the toilet – It does not create a good impression if the toilet ware is the first thing you see while entering the bathroom.  Do it the other way round, while ensuring that the sink is separate from both of them.

Lighting – Lighting also plays an essential role in small bathrooms. Too much and too less of lighting can spoil the beauty of the room easily. It is preferable to use dimmers, where you can adjust the lighting as per your and the space requirements. Natural lighting is also a good source of lighting. Walking in the bathroom in the morning and glorious sunshine will welcome you..

Paint – Use good quality of paint options that resists water, thus saving yourself to witness situations like peeling off and mould deposition after some time.
